ỌMỌ ÈKÌTÌ NI MÍ Foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to addressing the high unemployment rate among youth in Ekiti State, Nigeria.

The foundation focuses on providing skill empowerment, job placement, and entrepreneurial support to help young people become self-reliant and economically productive members of society. The objective of Ọmọ Èkìtì Ni Mí is to empower our people Ekiti by providing a platform for economic growth, Career Development, and Entrepreneurship opportunities.

We aim to foster a supportive community that promotes hard work, resilience, trustworthiness, and respect for elders, while upholding the values of Ekiti culture.

Core Objectives

  • Offer vocational and technical training in areas such as ICT, agriculture, fashion design, carpentry, welding, and more.
  • Organize workshops and seminars to enhance soft skills like communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, industries, and governmental organizations to secure job placements for trained youth.
  • Maintain a database of trained youth and connect them with potential employers.
  • Provide training in entrepreneurship, including business planning, financial management, marketing, and customer relations.
  • Offer seed funding, microloans, and access to investment opportunities for youth-led startups.
  • Establish a mentorship program where experienced entrepreneurs guide young business owners.
  • Conduct advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about the challenges of youth unemployment.
  • Work with policymakers to develop and implement strategies that support job creation and skill development in Ekiti State.
  • Engage with local communities to build support networks for the foundation’s initiatives

Programs and Initiatives

  • A flagship program aimed at providing free vocational training to unemployed youth across various local government areas in Ekiti State.
  • Graduates of the program receive certification and are linked with employment opportunities or supported in starting their businesses.
  • An initiative that pairs trained youth with internship opportunities in local businesses, offering them hands-on experience and a pathway to permanent employment.
  • A specialized training program designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools needed to launch and sustain successful businesses
  • A financial initiative that offers microloans and grants to young entrepreneurs to help them start or scale their businesses.

Impacts & Achievements

  • The foundation has successfully placed many trained youth in full-time jobs, contributing to a reduction in the unemployment rate in Ekiti State.
  • Several beneficiaries of the foundation’s programs have gone on to establish thriving businesses, creating jobs for others in the community
